Plums galore

We have what is considered an orchard (apparently).  A cherry tree, two pear trees, two shiro plum trees, an apple tree and a fig tree.  With the cold winter and the snow in February everything has been slightly late this year, and sadly, with the lack of sunshine over the last couple months the fruit hasn't ripened as quickly as it needed too.

shiro plums

apples should be ready in the next month

lovely pears
Still, today we picked all of the shiro plums, and look what we got ...

That's 5 bags full of plums.  We'll give a small bag to the neighbours, to both sets of parents, and then we've got to decide what to use them for.

We're thinking some jam, and we've got a recipe for a plum vodka, then reusing those plums in brandy (apparently makes a nice gift).  But not sure what to do with the rest.

Any suggestions????? x

  1. plum jam sounds delicious oh and plum vodka, super yummy!
